A Drumming Workshop for Adults: Cultivate an appreciation for the arts ~ Develop a new passion ~Learn how to play the drums!
Mary Ellen Hodges, regional percussionist, will lead an informal drum circle focusing on African rhythms, elements of music,
and basic drum technique. No previous music or drumming experience necessary.
This workshop aims to connect people socially who share a common interest in the arts. Drum Circle experiences provide an opportunity for participants to feel connected with others and gain a sense of interpersonal support. Participants will explore through world rhythms how the purposeful use of drumming and rhythmic experiences can create positive change physically, emotionally and cognitively through mindfulness and self expression. Drumming releases endorphins in the human brain that cause feelings of happiness, relaxation and euphoria. It’s a great reason to gather with other people, to share in a common experience, and to do something fun!
No Experience or Instruments Necessary.
