Recently making their debut at the Grand Ole Opry\, this Grammy-nominated group is comprised of multi-Grammy Award-winning guitarist and vocalist Clay Ross\, Falguni Shah\, an eleventh-generation Hindustani classical vocalist\, Yasushi Nakamura\, an internationally acclaimed jazz bassist and Clarence Penn\, a drumming protégée of Ellis Marsalis. DESCRIPTION:McInytyre Hall Presents \nNorthwest Wind Quintet \nSunday\, October 18     2:00pm \nThe second concert of the Masterworks Chamber Music Series features the Northwest Wind Quintet. The experienced and accomplished musicians of this quintet are as diverse as the instruments they play. Among them you will find an avid birder and mycologist\, an accountant who claims to be retired\, a former lawyer turned tennis club owner\, and two music teachers who find their joy in singing and playing music with youngsters. They all play in Skagit Symphony as well as various other local ensembles. Together\, Northwest Wind Quintet has an ever-expanding and diverse repertoire that draws on various genres\, from arrangements of 17th century dances through works by 21st century composers–including local composer\, arranger\, and clarinetist\, Barry Ulman. \nThe intimate Masterworks Chamber Music Series takes place in the Studio Space at McIntyre Hall. Patrons are encouraged to enjoy refreshments during the concert. Light appetizers & refreshments are included in the ticket price.
