Following the great success of Der Rosenkavalier, Strauss and his librettist, Hofmannsthal came up with a brilliant opera that explores the competition between high and low art for the attention of the public. Metropolitan Opera soprano Katie van Kooten will return to PNO to sing her first Ariadne.
Sung in German with English subtitles.
Lecture in the hall 45 minutes prior to performance.
